Hopefully this FAQ section will answer many , if not all, of your questions about a newborn session with me.  Should you have anything else that you would like answered, please get in touch with me via the contact page and I will respond promptly.

What type of sessions does Belinda Carr Photography offer?
All though I specialise in Newborn Photography I also offer baby/children and family sessions if requested.

Belinda's services include posed studio session for babies 5-14days,  In-home lifestyle session for babies  under 3months, birth photography and fresh48

When is the best time to book my newborn photo shoot?
Please schedule your newborn session while you are still pregnant. A good time frame would be around 25-35 weeks.
I only secure a very limited number of due dates per month to guarantee my availability when you deliver and to be able to offer each and every one of my clients the best customer service. If you have already had your baby please still contact me and I will try my best to accommodate you.

It is never to early to book your session with Belinda Carr Photography, the earlier the better..Trust me, when you get home from the hospital, you will feel overwhelmed and most likely you won't get around to finding a photographer until at least after your baby is a month old. At that time, we have missed that "newborn" opportunity.

What if my baby arrives early/late?  Will you still be able to fit me in?
When you make your booking for your newborn session, I make a note of your estimated due date on my calendar.
If your baby happens to arrive earlier or later than expected, this is no problem.  I keep my weekly schedule quite flexible to accommodate the unpredictability of babies. I also understand that some of our sweet little ones need a little extra time in the hospital as well. In these cases, we will adjust the time to schedule your newborn session when baby is home and heathy.

When is the best time to photograph my newborn?
The key to having a successful newborn photo shoot and achieving those “sleepy, curled up poses” is to have me photograph your newborn within the first 5-14days days of life. During this time frame babies are more likely to sleep soundly when being re positioned, and they still have that beautiful baby “curl” we all love to see in photos!
Newborns tend to sleep less and are difficult to “curl up” and pose once they reach the 14 day mark, baby acne and colic may also start to appear by then.

What if my baby is older than 14 days and I want to book a session?
If your little one was born premature, we can often stretch this window of time later than if your baby was born at full gestation.  I also offer In-Home Lifestyle Sessions - this session is suitable for babies up to 12 weeks of age.

Where does the session take place?
This all depends on the type of session you would like. Posed or Lifestyle?
All posed newborn sessions take place at my studio in Petone. (Studio sessions are often booked in on a Tuesday or Sunday)
Lifestyle Sessions are conducted in the comfort of your own home.

Do we, the parents, need to be in the photographs? I don’t feel ready to have my picture takes as yet.
I completely understand that so shortly after giving birth, you might not feel ready to have your picture taken as yet. However, I do encourage you to think about this anyways. The images in which you and your husband are interacting with your little baby can be the most precious images of them all. You might regret it afterwards not having taken any images with your child. Despite the fact I completely understand that you might feel a bit uncomfortable, I would like to encourage you to throw on a little make-up and choose a nice outfit. We can just capture a few here and there and you will have them regardless. You might be surprised how much you grow to love them in the end.

I have older children who I would like photographed with my newborn. Can you accommodate this?
Of course!! Capturing the interaction of your first born with your newborn can be quite emotional and unique, so this is a very important part of my style.  I ask that if you wish to have siblings photographed with your newborn, that you let me know prior to the session.

Do I need to bring in props, like hats or baskets, to use during the session?
I honestly think newborns are perfect just as they are, and I choose to highlight their natural beauty in the images I capture.  I don’t use a lot of over the top props, as I feel that this distracts from the perfectness that is your new little one!  If you have something that means a lot to you that you would like your newborn photographed with, please bring it and we will work it in. Other wise I provide all the headbands, wraps, blankets, etc

How soon will it be until I see my photos?

I aim for a turn around time of 2-3 weeks. Once I have personally hand edited each of your photos, you will receive an
e-mail from me giving you access to a password protected online viewing and ordering gallery where you will then be able to select your favourite images from. This gallery will stay active for 3 days and your order and payment is due prior to your gallery closing.

I do post a couple of sneak peeks on my Facebook page - www.facebook.com/belindacarrphotography - Please feel free to share or tag yourself in your images.

Can I print the photos I receive on my disc/USB?
Yes you can! If you have chosen to purchase the high resolution digital images, you are free to print these photos for personal use only. These images are not watermarked. I highly recommend ordering your prints through me especially if you are printing anything larger than 8x12" I cannot guarantee the quality of your photos if printed elsewhere

If you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Belinda was absolutely amazing with our wee girl. She was so patient and she instantly calmed our unsettled baby and captured some great shots. She has a very special touch! We love our album.

I would just like to thank you for the lovely photo's you took of our new baby boy and 2yr old daughter, they were amazing. You were very gentle and comforting with my little man getting him ready for the poses and it showed on all the photo's! Thanks again,
